Designing Homes with Calm, Clarity and Endurance

I’m Giselle, founder of De Hasse Architectural and Interior Design. I specialise in architectural interior design for private residential projects, working with clients undertaking substantial renovations, extensions and new houses.

Over twenty three years I have built my practice around thoughtful design rooted in natural materials, crafted details and an intuitive understanding of space. My work focuses on proportion, material integrity and spatial clarity, creating homes that feel calm, natural and enduring rather than styled or trend led.

I am typically engaged at an early stage of a project, working alongside architects and consultants to ensure architectural decisions and interior design are considered together. This allows clarity and cohesion from structure through to finish, and supports well resolved outcomes rather than compromise.

My experience includes working within listed and sensitive buildings, where respect for historic fabric, material integrity and proportion is essential, and where architectural interior decisions must be made with restraint, clarity and long term thinking.

Perspective

My sensitivity to interiors and the effect they have on our wellbeing was shaped long before founding the practice. I grew up in instability and learned early how profoundly environment influences how we live, think and feel. Light, proportion, material and order were not aesthetic preferences but necessities.

That experience informs how I work today. I value calm over noise, clarity over excess, and homes that support daily life rather than overwhelm it. Clients trust me to bring steadiness, perspective and sound judgement to complex decisions, particularly during demanding projects such as major renovations or new builds.

I work best with clients commissioning their primary residence who understand that thoughtful outcomes require time, collaboration and care. These are homes intended to last, not to impress briefly.
